1/ Co-ordinating conjunctions. Liên từ kết hợp.

Either … or / Neither … nor

Ex: He speaks French or perhaps he understands it.

—> He either speaks French or understands it. (I’m not sure) She can come at 8 o’clock. She can come at 9 o’clock.

–—>She can come either at 8 o’clock or at 9.

He didn’t write. He didn’t phone.

—> He neither wrote nor phoned.

She isn’t young. She isn’t beautiful.

—> She is neither young nor beautiful.

2/ Cleft sentences in the passive. Câu chẻ ở dạng bị động.

Câu chẻ (cleft sentence) có cấu trúc: It is / was … that…

Từ / ngữ ở giữa It is / was và that là phần được nhấn mạnh trong câu. Câu chẻ ở thái bị động có cấu trúc như sau:

It is / was + s + that + be + past articiple

Ví dụ: It’s sports that are enjoyed by most Americans.
