1. Short Adjective: các tính từ có một âm tiết hoặc 2 âm tiết tận cùng là -y.
| Adjective + _er + than |
Cheap —> cheaper big —> bigger
Safe —> safer lucky —> luckier
Ex: The exam paper is easier than we expected.
His house is bigger than mine.
2. Long Adjective: các tính từ có hai âm tiết trở lên.
| More + adjective + than |
Comfortable —>more comfortable
Ex: You’re more patient tham me.
She is more beautiful than her sister.
Superlative Form (So sánh nhất)
| The + adjective + _est |
Cheap —> the cheapest fine -> the finest
Thin —> the thinnest lovely —> the loveliest
Ex: Yesterday was the hottest day of the year.
What is the longest river in the world?
| The + most + adjective |
Delicious —> the most delicious
1. Đối với một số tính từ tận cùng là -ow, -er, -le có thể xem là tính từ ngắn hoặc dài.
2. Cụm từ Of được đặt ở đầu câu để nhấn mạnh hình thức so sánh hơn và so sánh nhất.
Of the two boys, John is more intelligent.
Of all the students in class. Jack is the tallest.
Một số tính từ có dạng so sánh bất qui tắc.
